Youth Leaders Gathering a Success
re:Gen Draws in Youth Ministry Leaders From Across Otago & Southland
On Saturday 9th March, approximately 80 youth leaders from across Otago & Southland gathered at Calvin Community Church in Gore. The purpose was to be encouraged and equipped for the year of youth ministry ahead. Many of the youth leaders were from Presbyterian churches but there were also youth leaders, from Anglican, Baptist, Brethren, Pentecostal and independent churches. The neat thing about re:Gen was that it connects youth leaders together from their area regardless of what denomination they are a part of.
The teaching was great! We were blessed to have Brian Krum speak, who is the National Team Leader for Baptist Youth Ministries NZ. And we had workshops from Neville Bartley (Youth Ministry Leader for Scripture Union NZ), Murray Brown (National Youth Consultant for CCCNZ), Lorna Gray (National Youth Facilitator for the Anglican churches). Eleanor Ranstead came and taught on Suicide Prevention and we had Logan & Levi from Dunedin lead worship.
Some of the highlights of the day were the worship - seeing a group of youth leaders connecting with God. The conversations over meals - seeing new connections being made. And seeing new people step up into roles by serving one another and sharing some of their gifts and talents with their colleagues in ministry.
