A New Addition to the Team!
KIDS FRIENDLY FAITH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT COORDINATOR
Welcome to Rachel Bates who has recently joined the Southern Presbyterians team!
This is a new 10 hour role, working alongside both Cheryl and Brad with a focus on the inbetweeners - the young people around 10-13 years. Specifically, I am exploring what is important in developing deep and lasting faith. Over the next two years I will be delving into research and resources to investigate what the ‘experts’ have to say. I will also be doing lots of listening to leaders, parents and young people in our region.
I am married to Nick who is Head of Cumberland College, home to 320 first year university students. We have four children aged 21 to 12. Like Cheryl, I trained as a primary school teacher and worked in Hawke’s Bay and London before staying home with my kids for a few years. I attend Leith Valley Church and worked as the church administrator/manager from 2012 to 2017. I’m currently studying theology at Otago and am loving the challenges that are building and enhancing my faith.
I look forward to meeting you at various events but please feel free to initiate contact if you have wisdom to share or if you need support. My goal is to collate resources and ideas with a view to encouraging and inspiring those who work with this vibrant and dynamic age group.
